Before you take a seat, know your limits. Check the Lobby to find the big and small bets you're comfortable playing with. There's a table with the same limits as you.
Some online poker games have a pre-set bet and raise amount for each action, some don't. It's important to know what the limit amount is, and which of the 3 limits govern the play: No Limit (NL), Pot Limit (PL), or Fixed Limit (FL). Find a symbol for the limit-type alongside the games posted in our Lobby.
FIXED LIMIT
Fixed Limit Poker
Bet and raise amounts for each round are preset.
Example:$10/$20 Fixed game First 2 rounds bet & raise: $5
Last 2 rounds bet & raise: $10
The cap: 3 raises per round. Then all players must call or fold. If only 2 players are left, the cap goes up to a max of 5 raises.
POT LIMIT
Pot Limit Poker
Amount of the current pot plus what it takes to call the previous bet.
The pot is the total cash in the middle, plus all bets on the table, plus the amount you must call before raising. If you bet $40, and the next player wants to raise you the minimum, his bet must be at least $80.
Example: $10/$20 Pot LimitAll 4 rounds bet & raise: $20 minTo raise:Original pot ($100) + Previous Bets ($20) + Call Amount ($20) = $140
You can call 'all-in' if someone bets or raises you more than the total chips in your stack. Your chips go into the main pot. Any raises that follow go into a side pot. If you've got the best hand, you'll win the main pot that holds your 'all-in' bet. The side pot goes to the next best hand as long as they contributed to the side pot.
Look for the bet slider on your turn. Its edges are your min and max bet. Move the slider to bet anything in between or type the amount you want to raise in the bet field.
NO LIMIT
No Limit Poker
The minimum bet is the big bet and there's no max bet.
Min bet: The big blind ($20 in $10/$20 game Max bet: none To raise: Equal to the last bet/raise plus more The cap: none
